Ipad review from Frenchmenst.com

Ok This is my crack at a Techy Review! The New Ipad 32 mb is the item today.I gave it a full Month to be able to see the Capabilities of this Lil Thing.First I'll start with the fact that when you pick it up,Your Half way to buying it.It has a wonderful feel in your hands like nothing I have ever felt from a Tech Device.Light ,smooth, and sleek. It makes you want to see what it's about!
I have the Wifi version and when Wifi is availiable it notices immediately and either asks for a password or locks into any open wifi around. The open space of 9.7 inches is perfect and if it's too small you can inlarge with 2 fingers because of the touch screen. There are unlimited apps that can be downloaded from the Itunes app store. Most Ipod and Iphone apps will work with the Ipad.Next the ease of carrying this device is priceless .Its small enough to carry in a backpack or travel bag when traveling. Most touring Musicians would love this lil dynamo!I took it to Moscow,Russia and Sacramento for gigs and it worked like a charm and was easy to store. The Drawbacks for this devices are a few also but I expect later versions to fix these problems.First
and most important is no Flash ability. This could be a killer but you get around it.I hear they will have a Mac fix for this Flash problem soon via Independent companies creating apps to fix this.Second is a small thing to me is there is no Camera built in.Like I said I would reather take pictures with my Sony anyway and there is a Camera attachment that will let you unload pictures to your Ipad.Third is not alot of HD Space 32 Mb is what I have but most other Tablet Devices or in the same Boat. For me as a Musician I like the idea of a small portable device to stay in touch with friends and family when Im on the road.I also suggest you get down to the Apple Store or Best Buy and feel one out for yourselves and ask alot of questions to figure out if it's what you need. There also is a Newer 3g version where you can purchase internet for your device for 22 bucks a month.Has a Great Calender feature so you can keep track of your gigs.Which im not very good at.It comes with a charger and usb connection that can be connected to any PC Or Mac.It's cross gender! No to me Apple has done it again and launched
the Computer in yet another direction! Of course this is strictly my opinion and I would like to hear of other experiences with this Device.

Food Prices

Hey if you have been shopping for Food Lately Have You Seen The Prices! As a working class Musician in the trenches every night,It's really hard to stay on top of this stuff. My significant other and soul mate Charle does the family shopping.Since she has been working alot I have gotten the job of shopping. It's totally ridiculous the prices. Not to mention a box of Oats is the same price as a Filet Mignon.,maybe we can start a home gardening Project? If any Musicians or anyone else would like to add some advice for begining Gardeners please feel free to join this blog. They say Tomatoes will go up to a dollar a piece!WTF! We grow the best tomatoes in the world here .We also need more Community Gardens where alot of availible land is not around.
I know of some good projects going in the Marigny and Bywater and if anyone else knows feel free to post there location and contact.I have a great garden going now .Tomatoes,Zucchini,Crook neck Squash(Yellow Squash)Bell Peppers,Eggplant and will soon do a Melon Patch. We gotta break away from the big genetically modified foods being forced down our throats. And they cost way more than a lil time in the garden Plus fresh beats the shit out of that Plastic looking crap they are selling.Lets start posting some picts on facebook of the gardens.Maybe even Frenchmenst.com will hold a contest for best Garden when the season is over.WE CAN DO THIS!

Help for Haiti

By now everyone has heard about the devastation in Haiti. I feel sad for those people in that Country not only do they jave to watch out for Hurricanes and Mudslides but now earthquakes.I remember after Katrina. When I found out everything I owned was lost in St.Bernard.An Unimaginable saddness befell me.I had lost everything in my life Material wise.I at least had hope because my family had survived. The material things could be replaced but to lose family would have completely devastated me.In Haiti death is always a possiblity but sudden destruction and the death it brings must be Un imaginable to any of us in The UNited States.I think New Orleans Musicians should band together and help raise some Money for the people of Haiti just as people around the World Helped Us after Katrina. If it wasn't for those people after Katrina I don't think I could have made it .The American people are truly a caring Compassionate people and though we get a bad rep alot our kindness is not contested .Lets do what we can to help these people for the pure Humanity of it.I have always tryed to live my life by the Golden Rule"Do unto others as you would have them do unto You"Kindness brings Kindness and Mercy in return.Lets not forget this little country in our thoughts and Prayers.

The New Spotted Cat "A Musicians Perspective"

Alas! The Spotted Cat Music Club is back for about a Month now.Frenchmen street is all a buzz again. Not That any other club isn't as Important. It's just that the Spotted Cat was a favorite Local hangout for years and I feel any club back in Business is good news to us Musicians and Bartenders.Lets Start with the first Thing Ya Notice when ya walk in=The Vibe! is awesome.Good Vibes in the Place.I don't know about You but I get a vibe from a place as soon as I walk in.If I don't like it I won't play there(at least not a 2nd Time).Thats why I stayed away when it was Jimbeauxs I didn't like the Vibe.Next The Stage has moved from the Right to the Left Hand side. It's a Bigger stage.I personally like the Acoustics on the Right side it was Tighter to me.Being on the Left allows people at the Bar to actually see the Band.Which is a Good thing.Next it's the bartenders and Manager that runs the Place They are pretty gong ho on working with the Bands.Carrie Lee does a great job as the go between for the Bands Management. The Old Cat The Bands and The Bartenders ran the Place. The owners were never around.Ceeding that power back to the Managers is a hard thing but these guys Bill and his crew have been nothing but accomodating.Overall Im impressed with the transformation.Clean Bathrooms with working Toilets is always a welcome thing for Musicians and Patrons alike!
So lets keep clubs opening around the city and watch the Music Flourish.I have always felt that something Magical is happening in New Orleans That will be remembered a 100 yrs from now.
